Next Visit to Toronto

What an awful week! We went to Toronto on Wed., Feb 11 for our appointments. We met first with the Special Pregnancy Unit at Mt. Sinai Hospital. I'm afraid their prognosis is not good for Twin B and they sure could use some serious lessons in compassion for patients being given bad news! I was quite a mess when we left there. But, I pulled myself back together while Chris had some lunch and then headed off to my MRI at Sick Kids. I hope I never have to do that again!! I was in the tube for 1 hour and 20 minutes. What a nightmare. The babies hated it and went crazy everytime they were doing their pictures which of course made it that much harder for me. We met with Dr. Drake afterwards but he didn't have a full report yet so we headed home with very little info and what we did have was very upsetting.

I called Nancy at Dr. Tomc's the next morning and he took us in right away and we talked things through with him just to be sure we fully understood what was going on. Boy, could the doctors in Toronto learn a thing or two from the two them! I'd give anything to have him by my side throughout the rest of this!!

I have decided to go ahead with the amnio to rule out any chromosome abnormalities. At least once that test is done, Chris & I can try to decide what our next step will be.

Twin A weighs 3 lbs. 1 oz and Twin B weighs 3 lbs. 7 oz.

Pregnancy Pictures

My sister Angie came over today for a visit and to take some pictures. I wanted to have some pregnancy pics done and was a little nervous showing off my belly so I started with Angie first and then I'll have Jimmy take some later. Angie did a great job of making me look good! I don't think I have ever liked pictures of myself this much. Not even my wedding pictures! These were taken in my 29th week of pregnancy.

Toronto

Well, we didn't find out much. I need to have an MRI so that the surgeon can get a clearer picture of Twin B's brain and will also need to do a consultation at Mt. Sinai Hospital as that would be the hospital I would deliver at and then Twin B would go over to Sick Kids for surgery there. So, we are on our way back to Toronto next week for some tests and appointments.

Trip to Toronto

We received some unfortunate news back around the time of my 18 week ultrasound. Twin B has hydrocephalus and will need surgery after birth. Dr. Tomc (my OB/Gyn) has been researching pediatric neurosurgeons and found a good one in Toronto so we are off to Sick Kids Hospital for a consultation today. Hopefully we get some answers and will be able to plan out the delivery of these babies.

27 weeks ultrasound

I had my next set of ultrasounds today. I had a different tech this time and she took the time to show me a bit more as she took the measurements and for the first time I was told the weight of the babies. Trust me I know it. I am growing so fast! These shots are just profiles of the babies faces and Twin A (2 lbs 5 oz) is a little clearer than Twin B (2 lbs 3 oz). The tech said that Twin B was pushed up against the placenta so his/her nose is a little squished and that's why the profile isn't as clear. Oh well, they're better than some of the last ones we've had!

Happy 6 months Ava!

Ava is 6 months old today. She had her shots yesterday and did not like it! She is starting to eat cereal now and loves it. She has mastered many new talents but is especially good at rolling back to belly and once she starts she rolls completely across the room! She is alot of fun!

Ava at 5 months

It's hard to believe how much she has changed in just the last few weeks. Here's a few pics of her hanging out with meme & pepe.
